A new poll indicates that royal fans are not entirely impressed with Charles Spencerās book on Princess Diana. The memoir, titled āSwan Song: Diana, My Sister,ā was released in the UK on September 22. In the book, Dianaās brother recounts his childhood with her at Althorp, the fallout from their parentsā separation, and the days immediately following the Princessā death in Paris in 1997.
Poll suggests many royal fans have not read Charles Spencerās Princess Diana book
Earl Charles Spencer has suffered another setback only days after his new memoir claimed the No. 1 spot on the Sunday Times bestseller list last weekend. Although the book sold more than 100,000 copies in its first week, it has also sparked controversy over its claims about King Charles. The memoir has drawn criticism from some royal supporters, while the poll suggests many Express readers have not read it.
To assess its popularity, the Daily Express launched a poll just after 2 p.m. on Sunday, October 4. It asked readers whether they had gone through the book. When the poll closed at 1 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 95% of respondents voted that they had not read it. Just 3% confirmed reading the book, while another 2% said that they intend to read it. The poll results come amid controversy surrounding several claims about the royal family in Spencerās memoir. One allegation concerns King Charlesā reaction after Princess Dianaās death. Spencer wrote that the then-Prince of Wales sounded ālike a lottery winnerā during a phone call.

Another controversial claim concerns an alleged remark that the then-Prince Charles would soon āforgetā Diana. Spencer also writes that Charles āwent nutsā during an argument over whether William and Harry should walk behind their motherās coffin.
In a rare and strongly worded response shared through BBC News, Buckingham Palace questioned how accurate Earl Spencerās claims were. However, neither Prince William nor Prince Harry has publicly addressed the memoir released ahead of their late motherās 30th death anniversary.
