Gypsy Rose Blanchard says she is “in communication” with ex Ken Urker’s family after his death at 34.
Her comments come after Urker’s sister, Autumn, slammed Blanchard for publicly grieving her former partner.
Blanchard said that, other than “tension” with Autumn, her communication with Urker’s family has been “positive and respectful.”
Gypsy Rose Blanchard is responding to criticism from Autumn Urker, the sister of her ex Ken Urker, following his Oct. 1 death.
“At this time, I do not want the focus surrounding Ken’s passing to become centered on negativity or disagreements between Autumn and me,” Blanchard, 35, said Saturday in a statement to Us magazine. “It is no secret that Autumn did not approve of Ken’s relationship with me, and there has been significant tension between us, including public comments she made about me in the months leading up to his passing.”
However, Blanchard, the subject of the Hulu drama The Act and the HBO documentary Mommy Dead and Dearest, stated she would prefer to focus on mourning Urker rather than litigating their relationship with his sister.
“Right now, my priority is grieving Ken, supporting our daughter and honoring his memory,” Blanchard said. “I remain in communication with Ken’s family, and aside from my relationship with Autumn, those communications have been positive and respectful during an incredibly painful time.”

Entertainment Weekly confirmed on Oct. 1 that Ken had been found dead at a Raceland, Louisiana property on his 34th birthday. Prior to that, Urker and Blanchard had an on-and-off relationship, briefly dating in 2018 amid her prison sentence for her involvement in her mother’s murder. They reconciled in 2024 following her divorce from Ryan Anderson and welcomed daughter Aurora that December.
In the wake of Urker’s death, Blanchard told EW’s sister publication PEOPLE that she was “in disbelief” over his death.
“I don’t know if it was intentional or not,” Blanchard told the outlet, claiming that “he was not in a good state of mind lately.”
PEOPLE also reported that Blanchard had sent Urker a text wishing him a happy birthday, but didn’t receive a reply. This prompted her brother, Dylan, and his wife to check on Urker at his home, where they reportedly found him unresponsive inside the residence.

Blanchard additionally remembered Urker on social media, writing, “Ken was an amazing father and a man who was deeply loved. He will forever be my soulmate and my red string, a connection that time, distance, and even death can never erase.”
Autumn, 31, subsequently accused Blanchard of lying about the circumstances surrounding Ken’s death. In a statement to the Daily Mail published Saturday, She said, “We are disgusted with her statements! She hasn’t even called my mother or any of us yet.”

Autumn spoke further about her brother’s death during a TikTok live broadcast late Thursday evening. She described her brother as a “great man” who “didn’t care if you were broken,” adding that “he would still love you” and “still fight for you.”
“He tried so hard for Gypsy because he was that [kind of] person,” she continued. “My brother was a good father, a good brother, a good son and a good friend. And we were all lucky and blessed to have known him.”
