- John Turturro is celebrating the New York Knicks championship in the best way — dancing at the parade.

- The actor grew up in New York and has been a Knicks fan for decades.

- Hundreds of thousands of fans descended on Lower Manhattan to cheer on the victorious basketball team.

John Turturro is having a better Thursday than everyone else at the New York Knicks parade.

The *Severance** *star and die-hard Knicks fan busted a move with New York Assemblywoman Larinda C. Hooks in an Instagram video while waiting for the awards ceremony to start at City Hall in Lower Manattan.

Turturro, who was a regular presence courtside at Madison Square Garden, was among many celebrities at the star-studded celebration for the basketball team, who won their first NBA Championship in 53 years on Saturday, defeating the San Antonio Spurs in five games.

Thousands of fans descended on Lower Manhattan to cheer on the Knicks as they paraded through the Canyon of Heroes.

Joining Turturro for New York's victory were Martha Stewart, Mariska Hargitay, Ben Stiller, Timothée Chalamet, Fat Joe, Spike Lee, Steve Schirripa, Edie Falco, and Tracy Morgan, among other celebrities.

The actor, who stars in the upcoming film *The Only Living Pickpocket in New York*, called Game 4 of the NBA Finals "the most emotional" when the Knicks came back in the final moments. "It felt like we won," he told the *New York Times* of the consequential game. "I had so much hope in the '90s and I had my heart broken so many times."

The *Quiz Show** *star and native New Yorker previously told WNYC about his longtime admiration of the Knicks, dating back to the 1960s. In early June amid the playoffs run, Turturro predicted that the team would be "the underdog." "If they continue to play the way they're playing, I think they have a real shot," he said.

"You never know what it's gonna be like in the matchups in a seven-game series, because every game is almost like a series," he noted. "But they're playing beautiful basketball, and if they can continue that I think they have a real shot at it. It's exciting to see the way they're playing and the way they're winning because everyone is contributing."

Turturro added, "When you see a team function like that, it's a metaphor for the best part of society...the sum is greater than the whole."

What Turturro loved the most this season was the shared enthusiasm, saying, "The most exciting thing is when you ride the subway home."

He continued, "After they came back from 22 down in the fourth quarter against Cleveland, everyone was on the subway and everyone looked exactly the same. They had a big smile on their face and they looked like they were in shock at the same time. We were all looking at each other, thinking, 'Did we really see that?'"
