Madonna Joined Sabrina Carpenter’s Coachella Set—and Debuted a New Song

Madonna joined Sabrina Carpenter on stage during Coachella weekend 2.

The pop stars performed some of Madonna’s biggest hits together.

They also sang a new unnamed song.

On Friday night, Sabrina Carpenter welcomed pop icon Madonna onstage during her second weekend at Coachella, surprising her very excited audience. The two stars performed two of Madonna’s biggest hits, “Vogue” and “Like a Prayer.”

If that weren’t exciting enough, they also sang an unnamed song that is supposedly going to be featured on Madonna’s upcoming album, Confessions on the Dance Floor: Part II, set to release this July.

The musical artist addressed the crowd during her performance, saying, “So, 20 years ago today I performed at Coachella. I was in the dance tent and it was the first time I performed Confessions on a Dance Floor Pt. 1 in America, and that was such a thrill for me, so you can imagine what a thrill it is to be back 20 years later in the same boots, with the same corset, the jacket I had on earlier, a Gucci jacket. So it’s like a full circle moment, you know? Very meaningful for me.”

Carpenter is a huge fan of Madonna, and has performed covers of her songs before, especially during her Short n’ Sweet tour. During her first Coachella set last weekend, Carpenter had a number of other special guests, including Susan Sarandon, Samuel L. Jackson, Will Ferrell, and her Girl Meets World co-star Corey Fogelmanis. This week, she welcomed actors Geena Davis and Terry Crews.

Before her performance, Carpenter told Marc Jacobs for Perfect magazine that she had invested a lot in the show.

“It’s the most ambitious show I’ve ever done,” she said. “It’s probably the most time I’ve ever had to actually just sit down and talk about a show as I’m building it. Most of the time, you’re really quickly thrust into physical rehearsals, but this time around we started this process around seven months ago. So it’s been a long journey. It will be very special.”
