Nicole "Snooki" Polizzi is opening up about her cancer journey after revealing that she was diagnosed with stage 1 adenocarcinoma.

The *Jersey Shore *star, 38, spoke candidly about her experience on *Good Morning America* on Thursday, saying her children with husband Jionni LaValle keep asking her, "Are you dying?"

"I'm like, 'No, I'm not dying. I'm just sick, and I need to figure it out, and mommy will be fine,'" she told *GMA* host Lara Spencer.

"So my little one thinks I'm dying. But my oldest ones, I feel like they know what's going on," she said of her three kids: Lorenzo, 13; Giovanna, 11; and Angelo, 6.

She recalled a similar moment with PEOPLE in an interview published Thursday. "My two oldest were like, 'Are you dying?' Because they know what cancer is, it scared them a little bit. But I was reassuring them like, 'No, mommy's gonna be fine.'"

Snooki also spoke to *GMA* about her doctor's recommendation to undergo a hysterectomy to remove her uterus and cervix. The reality star admitted that she's "scared" and hasn't scheduled the procedure yet.

"I hated it when [the doctor] first said, 'We have to do this or it's gonna escalate to stage 2,'" she said. "I know I'm done with kids. [But] just knowing that you can't... I don't know, it made me feel like I'm not a mom or, I don't know, a lot of emotions went into my head."

Snooki first revealed her diagnosis on social media in February. "My results came back from my cone biopsy, you guys, and it came back stage 1 cervical cancer called adenocarcinoma," she announced. "Obviously not the news that I was hoping for, but also not the worst news, just because they caught it so early. Thank freaking God!"

After a flood of support from her friends, family, and followers, Snooki thanked everyone for their kind words and prayers. "So overwhelmed with all the love you guys have given me 😭. Appreciate you!! Now go book ya exams! 🙏🏽," she said on Instagram.

Snooki also spoke about the regrets she has after learning of her cancer diagnosis, telling *GMA* that it was "actually preventative."

"Like, 'Why were you so scared?' It's literally a 10-minute appointment," she said. "You get it done, you figure it out, and then that's it."

Snooki is set to return for a new season of *Jersey Shore: Family Vacation* on May 7, but she and the rest of the GTL crew insist this is only the end of their run on MTV, but not necessarily *the *end.

"It's not over for us,” she said on *GMA*. "I'm so glad that [*Jersey Shore*] happened because I can't picture my life as anything else."
