Ryan Garcia appeared to badly injure a content creator after agreeing to punch him for a YouTube video.

Subscribers were left in shock after watching the clip uploaded to Zavala's YouTube channel on Jan. 16, in which the boxer, 27, landed a body shot that left social media personality Zavala vomiting and screaming in pain.

Zavala is seen in the video giving his consent to Garcia punching him in the stomach while standing shirtless against a wall. Garcia, wearing boxing gloves, then punches Zavala in the midsection as he stands with his hands over his head.

Zavala falls to the ground immediately, screaming in pain. “Are you good?” someone is heard asking. “Oh s--t!”

Zavala continues to writhe around on the floor in pain as Garcia asks him, “Did I crack you? You good, bro? Oh, f--k.”

Zavala eventually gets up and goes to the bathroom to vomit. A few seconds later, Garcia and another team member are seen opening the bathroom door to check on him,

“I can’t move up, deada--,” he tells them. “He’s actually f--ked up,” the team member says. “He’s bleeding, I’m not even kidding,” Garcia says.

Garcia ended the video as he called 911 for Zavala.

Zavala was seen earlier in the video training with Garcia while wearing protective gear. Having then volunteered for the body shot challenge, he decided against wearing any gear when punched by the boxer.

PEOPLE has reached out to Garcia’s representative for comment.

Garcia won the WBC interim lightweight title in 2021. He shares his two children, daughter Bela, five, and son Henry, two, with his ex-wife, Andrea Celina.

In 2024, the California-born boxer was suspended from the sport for one year after failing a drug test before fighting Devin Haney, per ESPN. That same year, Garcia was arrested on a felony vandalism charge for allegedly causing damage to a hotel in Beverly Hills, PEOPLE previously reported.

Garcia returned to fight in May 2025 against Rolly Romero, which he lost on points.

According to the U.K. newspaper The Sun, Garcia was offered to fight Jake Paul in December 2025, but declined the offer, which British boxer Anthony Joshua agreed to instead. Joshua, 36, knocked out Paul after six rounds in the fight.

Garcia will next fight Mario Barrios for the WBC welterweight world title on Feb. 21.
