Justin Cary of Sixpence None the Richer died on June 18 at the age of 50.

The bassist for the alt rock band had recently suffered a stroke.

"We love you forever," Sixpence None the Richer's lead singer Leigh Nash wrote in an Instagram post.

Justin Cary, a longtime bassist for alt rock band Sixpence None the Richer, has died. He was 50.

Cary died on Thursday, June 18, after recently suffering a "serious" stroke, according to a GoFundMe created to support him and his wife, Linda. Sixpence None the Richer's lead singer Leigh Nash also confirmed Cary's passing with a touching Instagram post paying tribute to the bassist.

"'We sure had a great time' is an understatement. Thank you, Justin. We love you forever," Nash wrote in her post, which included a carousel of photos of the band over the years. "Please keep his dear Linda close to your hearts. She is our family. There's never been anybody like Justin. 🙏🏻"

Two days ago, Nash had shared news of Cary's stroke on her Instagram, asking for fans to pray for his recovery.

"Our brother of 30 years (and bassist), Justin had a stroke Thursday night. His wonderful wife Linda has kept us everyday and night too. She is lovely, delicate and unfathomably heartbroken," Nash wrote. "We love our brother so so much. Words don't cover it. I know so many out there love him too. Saw his brilliance, second to NONE professionalism, class, humor (oh my lord the humor) wit, tough as an old boot as they say. Many more adjectives to describe him. Please pray for Justin and Linda."
