Taylor Lautner's wife is keeping details surrounding her first pregnancy under wraps and with good reason, as a paparazzi mishap on her big day brought her to tears.

In a June 17 appearance on Matt and Abby Howard's "Unplanned Podcast," Tay Lautner, who is "a little past halfway" in her pregnancy, opened up about how an "invasion of privacy" at her 2022 wedding informed the couple's decision to protect their unborn child from the public eye.

"I think I was just a little scarred cuz our wedding, there was someone that had a really long lens camera and took photos of our first look and posted them the day after our wedding," she said. "I know. I cried. It was rough."

"That was not a fun thing for me, mainly cuz that was the first time it really felt like an invasion of privacy for me. .... But our wedding, that like really just felt icky. It just did not feel good. So, I think that kind of just put a bad taste in my mouth," she added.

The Lautners, Taylor and Tay, attend the Cameron Boyce Foundation's 3rd Annual Cam for a Cause Gala in Los Angeles on June 2, 2024.

The couple wed in 2022, five years after meeting at a game night hosted by the "Twilight" actor. Taylor's sister Makena set the pair up, claiming at the time that she'd met her brother's "future wife." The Lautners announced they were expecting their first child in March 2026.

While Tay isn't due for another couple of months, the registered nurse and mental health advocate is committed to keeping some details about her pregnancy close to the vest, especially any that pertain to her baby specifically.

"Every time, after this, every time I open my mouth, an article pops up. And that's something that I'm really learning during this pregnancy is every time I even just say, like 'I'm struggling with something,' there's a bunch of articles that pop up. So, it's made me want to really protect my pregnancy and everything around it," she said during the podcast.

Tay, however, is "more than happy" to talk about her own experience, like how she's feeling and what she's going through.

Tay Lautner thought everyone had figured out she was expecting

While Tay was committed to breaking the baby news on her terms, there were moments leading up to the announcement where she was convinced that she'd been snuck up on, particularly during some obstetrician-gynecologist (OB/GYN) visits.

"Definitely, every time I would like go to my OB's office or go to an urgent care or something, I definitely would get nervous. I mean, especially going to my OB, cuz Taylor has come with me to every appointment," Tay said.

"People in the waiting room would be like, 'Oh, why are they both going in there?' Like that definitely concerned me. And I also put on a lot of weight, I think, quicker than I was expecting," she added.

The 29-year-old revealed that she suffers from emetophobia, the fear of vomit or vomiting, and ate as a way to combat the nausea she was experiencing during the first trimester. As a result, she gained between 12 and 15 pounds in two and a half weeks.

"So, I had put on weight, and you could like guess, I was like, my family was like not surprised I was pregnant because like you could tell because I had gained weight," she said. "I was scared that people were going to like figure it out when I was going into my OB appointments."
