Baumgartner once accidentally made Dreyer's son cry during a ski trip, a story their families now laugh about
Friends Brian Baumgartner and Dylan Dreyer are recounting a ski trip story that has become legendary for their families.
On the Thursday, June 18, episode of Dreyer's show The Parent Chat, The Officestar, 53, and the Todaymeteorologist, 44, opened up about their friendship and going on family vacations together. One vacation story, however, had an unexpected twist.
When Dreyer revealed that the pair had similar parenting styles, Baumgartner agreed, adding "When I'm not terrifying your children," prompting the Today co-host to laugh. "That's another story," he quipped.
The story in question? Baumgartner recalled the time he made Dreyer's son, 6-year-old Oliver, cry while on a ski trip.
"Poor Ollie," Dreyer laughed. "This was not me," Baumgartner said while shaking his head. "Ollie needs to buck up," to which his mom lovingly agreed.

One day during the trip, Baumgartner was getting his two daughters and Dreyer's three sons ready for ski school. To escape the morning rush, he urged the kids to get ready, saying, "Let's go!"

"Apparently, this frightened Ollie," he said. Dreyer explained that Ollie loves breakfast, and for him, Baumgartner's rush felt like yelling, and he thought it meant he couldn't eat his favorite meal. "Ollie comes back holding his dish and his cheeks are shaking, and his eyes are welling up with tears," she said.
"I just turned around the corner, and I see that and I'm like, 'Oh God. No, please don't,' " Baumgartner recalled.
"In Ollie's defense, your voice was booming," Dreyer noted. "You have a loud voice and also, your sarcastic voice is loud. And when a 5-year-old doesn't realize you're kidding, it's terrifying."
At the top of the episode, Dreyer introduced Baumgartner as a "unicorn."
"I find, as an adult, it's hard to make friends," she said. "Especially, friends who have kids your kid's age, so everybody can hang out together. I found that friend and his kids are really good friends with my kids."
"I kind of found that unicorn that I'm looking for as an adult," Dreyer noted, referring to Baumgartner.
Their friendship first started on a golf course, as Dreyer noted that they first met a couple of years ago at the Hilton Grand Vacations Tournament of Champions. After being randomly paired up on the first day, they immediately "clicked."
