Mixed martial arts fighter Allan Nascimento has died at age 34

The Brazilian fighter made his UFC debut in 2018 and officially signed with the organization in 2021

He earned the nickname “Puro Osso” after starting Muay Thai in 2007 as a skinny teenager

UFC fighter Allan Nascimento has died. He was 34.

On Monday, Aug. 3, the Ultimate Fighting Championship announced the death of the professional athlete on its social media channels, stating that it is believed that Nascimento died of an apparent heart attack.

“This morning, Monday, August 3rd, our beloved flyweight fighter, Allan Nascimento, was found unresponsive after suffering an apparent heart attack in his sleep,” the organization said in an Instagram post. “Despite the efforts of the responding medical team, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.”

A single black-and-white photo of him smiling directly at the camera, while holding up his fist as he wore a UFC boxing glove, accompanied the announcement.

The organization offered its condolences to Nascimento’s family, friends, teammates, and loved ones.

“One of the kindest souls I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing through MMA. Rest in peace, Allan. 😭🕊️,” UFC international correspondent Evelyn Rodrigues commented.

“He was one of the most kind fighters that’s I’ve ever met! Polite, good energy and always in good spirits! He will be missed 🙏🏼 RIP! @chuteboxe_sp and his family, stay strong ❤️,” UFC martial artist Caio “The Natural” Borralho wrote.

Nascimento was born in Brazil and compiled a 17-4 record in his native country before his UFC debut in 2018 at Dana White’s Contender Series.

He was later signed to the UFC in October 2021.

In a pinned Instagram post from June, Nascimento gave “a little history” of how he got started, saying he began Muay Thai in 2007 as a “skinny, tiny guy,” which earned him the nickname “Puro Osso,” which translates to “pure bone.”

His parents were initially against his dreams of becoming a professional fighter, but later adapted after they saw the hard work that went into achieving his goals.

Nascimento reflected on losing his father just three weeks before his first UFC fight, calling it “the hardest moment of my life.”

“But he’s a guy who’s always with me in every fight,” Nascimento said in a clip translated to English. “He is always in the picture frame with me.”

The UFC flyweight fighter’s last match was June 20 at UFC Fight Night 279 against Mitch Raposo, who broke Nascimento’s winning streak after consecutively defeating Jake Hadley, Carlos Hernandez, Jafel Filho and Cody Durden, per ESPN.

He was also scheduled to appear as a special guest at the Charles Oliveira Experience on Aug. 9.
