Whoopi Goldberg revealed that fans would be “shocked” by how much she gets paid for The View.

The EGOT winner replied to an inquiry about what she loves about doing the talk show on actress Keke Palmer’s podcast.

“The check,” Goldberg said. “I love the check.”

Whoopi Goldberg has revealed one thing she really, really likes about moderating The View.

“The check,” Goldberg said on the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast. “I love the check.”

Just how big is that check, you ask? While the EGOT-winning Hollywood icon didn’t reveal specifics about how many zeros are in the number representing her total salary for the long-running talk show (which she’s moderated since 2007), she suggested to Palmer that the sum is astronomical.

“No, no, you can’t [imagine],” Goldberg told the Hustlers actress. “Trust me. You can’t. You would be shocked.”

She added: “As soon as they showed you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the!?’”

Goldberg said she’s grateful to have the opportunity for a steady paystub in life, and that she doesn’t take the gig for granted ever since late journalist and View founder Barbara Walters offered her the job nearly 20 years ago.

“I needed a job. Barbara offered me a job. She said, ‘We just lost one of the people on the show, would you consider coming over?’ And I’d been doing a radio show, and I said, ‘Absolutely, yeah!’” Goldberg recalled earlier on Palmer’s podcast. “She brought me over and it’s like I’ve been crazy-glued to that chair!”

The Ghost and Sister Act star added that she takes a moment to “look around every day” before she leaves her house to moderate The View’s live shows, to soak up the appreciation she has for regular work.

“I see my family, and I see pictures of folks and I think, ‘Oh, yeah, it’s good to have a job.’ And I come to work,” the 70-year-old said. “A lot of people don’t have jobs, so, I’m lucky. I like to talk, I like talking about stuff, I like people. And I’m okay with what I think I believe. I don’t mind doing that. Even when it irritates people? That’s what the show is. It’s not irritation, necessarily, but it is called The View.”

She additionally summed up her persona on the talk show, telling Palmer, “The public gets me. They don’t always like me, but they get me.”

Clearly, Goldberg is doing something right at the Hot Topics table, as she’s about to usher in the show’s 30th season — nearly 20 of which Goldberg has led as the show’s moderator. She repeatedly makes headlines when the show is in season (it’s currently on a summer hiatus), for everything ranging from her numerous faux collapses on set to her staunch opposition to the Donald Trump administration.

Goldberg has also navigated the show through high-profile interviews in recent months, including with former Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene and a buzzy on-air conversation with Vice President JD Vance.
