On October 1, 2026, WWE filed an official trademark application for the term “Ultranueva” with the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
However, the company has not revealed what it plans to use the name for yet. This one could possibly have something to do with the company’s growing presence in the Spanish-speaking wrestling market.
WWE files a trademark application for Ultranueva
The application covers a wide range of pro wrestling and sports entertainment services. This includes wrestling shows and performances, television and radio broadcasts, online content, wrestling news and information, online community services, fan clubs, newsletters, and blogs.
The description of the trademark reads:
“IC 041: Entertainment services, namely, wrestling exhibitions and performances by a professional wrestler and entertainer rendered live and through broadcast media including television and radio, and via the internet or commercial online service; providing wrestling news and information via a global computer network; providing information in the fields of sports and entertainment via an online community portal; providing a website in the field of sports entertainment information; fan club services, namely, organizing sporting events in the field of wrestling for wrestling fan club members; organizing social entertainment events for entertainment purposes for wrestling fan club members; providing online newsletters in the fields of sports entertainment; online journals, namely blogs, in the field of sports entertainment.”

Ultranueva is a Spanish-language term that can roughly mean “very new” or “ultra new.” The Spanish wording makes the trademark stand out, especially with WWE becoming more involved in the Mexican wrestling scene.
WWE has strengthened its relationship with AAA and continues to feature international talent. One possibility is that Ultranueva could be used for a new wrestler. This could especially apply to someone with a lucha libre or Spanish-speaking background.
Another possibility is that the name could be used for a new faction or tag team. WWE often trademarks names that can be used for groups or characters, so a new stable is another possibility.
There is also a simpler explanation. Ultranueva could be planned for an event, segment, digital project, merchandise, or another entertainment-related idea that WWE has not announced yet.
