'Let's Marry Harry': Harry Jowsey's friend Sonny Henty 'hated' this twist in the Netflix dating show

From Too Hot to Handle to The Perfect Match, Harry Jowsey gained a reputation for being a serial f— boy on reality dating shows. But calling in help from Alex Cooper, Amanda Kloots, Sonny Henty, and his ex-girlfriend, Georgia Hassarati, Jowsey tried to leave his red flags behind and find a genuine connection in the Netflix show Let's Marry Harry.

To start the dating series, 20 women are vying for Jowsey's affection. Initially, his three confidants, Kloots, Henty and Hassarati, get to decide who isn't a match for Harry, sending them home. As you see quickly, Kloots, in particular, but all the confidants, didn't waste any time telling Harry to move on from the women who aren't the best for him.

"I was taking this very seriously because I love this man so much, and I think he deserves a perfect partner to match him," Kloots told Yahoo Canada. "It was such an incubated process that it was just very clear who could possibly be his wife, and who wasn't."

Part of that, for Kloots, is that she and Jowsey got close over their shared grief, with Jowsey losing his father in 2024, and Kloots' husband, the late Broadway star Nick Cordero, dying in 2020 from complications related to COVID-19.

"We became friends because of our shared grief of losing people that we love so much, and so that's how I knew Harry. I had never watched any of his reality shows before. So I met Harry on that level, … that's the kind of person I know … and who I love so much," Kloots said.

But the confidants weren't enthusiastic about all the elements of Let's Marry Harry, particularly one rule where, after they decide who should leave the experience, Harry has the ability to save one woman, but he has to choose someone else to send home in her place.

"I hated it. It was one of my biggest fights with … everyone because I know what's best for him, and I was being overridden by Harry, and it sort of … made me powerless," Henty stressed. "It was a decision that I think we shouldn't have been allowed to give him. Yeah, I didn't like it."

For Hassarati, having the experience of dating Jowsey in the past, she believes one of the most challenging elements of being with Jowsey is adapting to how public his life is.

"When I met him, I was new to a kind of public life. He works a lot in different scenes. He has a lot of cool friends. It can be a little bit intimidating," Hassarati said. "So he really needs someone that is confident and easygoing and understands that. I would say that's probably the biggest challenge."

"Sometimes, if you've dated me, it's probably not what you've signed up for. Maybe you just met me out and it's nice, … but it is kind of intimidating," Jowsey added.

But despite his reputation, Jowsey is adamant that he's ready to be husband material for the right woman, including being open and vulnerable as he still works through the grief of losing his father, feelings that were particularly strong when the cameras came with him to New Zealand.

"I had no choice but to kind of surrender to the process, and I was really grateful for that," Jowsey said. "It would be horrible if I didn't just open up and be myself. So I'm really excited for people to see that side of me, because I think on all the other shows I've been a bit of a silly sausage, but this one is obviously more real."

"It was really difficult to to go back to New Zealand and to see that stuff with my dad, … that was the first time I'd seen my sisters and their kids since he had passed. … I think that whole thing was just weighing on my brain the whole time, but I was really grateful that I got to be able to do this whole thing."

"It was just so beautiful to see that he was able to share that on the show, because that is who his partner is going to see too," Kloots added. "There is the fun Harry that … knows what to do on TV, but the guy that's at home, that just wants to stay at home and that is very connected to his friends and family, that's a huge part of him that his wife is going to have to embrace and love too."
